Blind Adaptive Phase Offset Correction

Abstract

This paper introduces a blind adaptive carrier phase offset recovery scheme based on the Constant Modulus (CM) Algorithm, and analyzes its behavior. The proposed model, which we call the CM-Derotator, minimizes the dispersion of the projection of the derotated signal onto the real axis, and completely removes the phase offset of the signal in certain situations. By analyzing the cost function of the CM-Derotator, we investigate its tracking ability, its behavior in the presence of Inter-Symbol Interference (ISI), and its behavior when there is statistical dependency between the inphase and quadrature components.
