We develop a new blind carrier frequency offset correction scheme for OFDM systems based on fourth order statistics. The proposed algorithm does not require the transmission of known signals and performs perfect frequency offset synchronization under a certain condition on the channel which is satisfied for virtually all OFDM channels in practical situations. The global convergence of this algorithm to a unimodal solution can be shown independently from the channel. Simulation results and the connection to other algorithms, such as Maximum Likelihood (ML) approximation and Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA), are presented.
